First, if you follow the included instructions, this would probably not be a wise purchase. However, with a few modifications, these are very worthwhile. The adhesive on the bars is great for achieving a good initial stretch, but that’s about where I’d recommend no longer following the manufacturer’s instructions. Most importantly, do not cut your canvas; this is just a poor choice! There are several excellent videos online that show how to fold canvas at the corners. Once you’ve folded the framing bars inward so that they touch, staple them at the joints with a proper staple gun, not the attached staples. Use the second side of adhesive tape to wrap your canvas around the back side of the bars, but again, staple them down. The adhesive will eventually fail, then you’ll be left with an unstretched, cut canvas (if following the manufacturer protocol). At the end, you should have a well-stretched canvas that will last for quite a while, at a fraction of the cost!

Fairly easy. Nice and tight one it’s together. I used a glass table and shined a light up from the bottom to see my edges better. Worked like a charm. Be advised- ensure that you have the correct frames in the right place before sticking to the strips. They still only go one way. Great product!

Recently I had purchased five pieces of canvas artwork of varying sizes from the internet, knowing I was going to have to DIY up a canvas frame solution for each of them. I’m here to tell you that I *might* have been able to do it without these frame kits, but it would’ve been a lot more challenging, AND a lot more expensive! Simple instructions, simple pieces, and after spending a couple hours… I ended up with 5 absolutely gorgeous pieces of artwork with minimal work and miniscule money invested. (Trust me, if you’ve ever had to have something professionally framed, you know how expensive it can get!) My only complaint (and it’s relatively minor) is that each kit comes with metal “brackets” to pin down the edges of your canvas to the frame. In every case, the metal brackets were seemingly frozen to each other and I couldn’t separate them from one another — so they were basically useless. I ended up using a staple gun I had on hand to pin down each edge, and it worked beautifully. If I end up with canvasses in the future, there’s no question I’ll pick up more of these. ALSO… keep in mind that no instructions are included with the package itself, so you’ll want to return to the Amazon page and print your instructions from there. The steps are super-simple.

Although the results were good, ironing out deep creases in folded canvas and stretching onto stretcher bars was a bit difficult. Used 16†x 19†bars. Due to small amount of extra fabric. Numbers very small, but not unusual I am finding. One or two paints were so thin that areas needed 4-5 coats to cover numbers. Love final product despite challenges.

I am not the most artistic person, and I’ll admit that I was a bit skeptical of a paint by numbers kit like this with such a beautiful picture. For an adult, it’s a pleasant activity, easy to be mindless and get lost in the numbers. The canvas is great quality, like it’s real actual canvas and not plastic sheeting or something. It came folded up, and the folds came out with an iron. I had my husband built me a wooden frame for it, that we stretched the canvas over and stapled it, which is exactly what I wanted. The paints are really nice quality too, I think it’s real acrylic or something – but I don’t think it’s oil as the item description says. The paint washes off the brushes with just water. Not just cheap materials, which is what I was expecting! The brushes leave a little to be desired, but I used scissors to trim off the bad hairs and now they’re ok. I would not recommend for kids! lol 😛 Tiny tiny details, in the pictures I used a pen for scale of the tiny areas that are to be painted! (I guess some kids could handle it, but not many I know!) It’s gonna take me forever to finish, as these sorts of crafts usually do. But it’s already turning out much better than I thought it would. Overall, much much better quality than the description leads on! I am pleased with this!

We are not done with the painting yet but couldn’t stop myself from posting this review. My daughter loves to paint and she loves cats. I bought this kit so we both can paint together. It was very easy to guide her to select the colors and She did a very good job staying within the lines. The most wonderful thing was that this design has 16 colors and that made her so happy with the colorful outcome, it’s coming out very beautiful. The only minor thing that “I†had trouble with is the tiny numbers on the canvas that could be printed little bigger. In my opinion. The brushes provided are different sizes, very good to paint bigger areas to very small areas. The kit had enough paint to cover the canvas and we are going to have a lot of paint left over as well. We already talking about framing it and hanging it in her room.

I’m very pleased with this item so far. The packaging was nice, the canvas is thick and pre-primed, and the paints seem nice and thick. It’s also a good size. I love that it also came with a paper print out of the numbered image. I will save this while painting incase I make a mistake, but then I intend to color it with markers! Bonus!
My only concern is that there is only one pot of each color of paint. I hope it is enough. If it turns out that it was not enough, I will come back here and update my review.
