Positives: Very nice painting as a gift. Fun and cute for people who love Totoro. The painting set comes with a rolled up canvas, a smaller reference picture, mini paint pots with number and brushes. All you need is a glass of water for the brushes. The template image of Totoro and friends is gorgeous. The painting canvas itself comes in outlines of the scene with numbers in the center. You just match the number on the section on canvas to the paint pot number.
Negatives: The picture that is posted on Amazon is a little misleading because it looks 3D but it is just image on flat convas that is shipped rolled up. You have to buy the frame. The written description is accurate though. Secondly, while painting the picture, the number on the canvas that correlates with the gray part of Totoro’s body matched up to a green color in the paint pots sent. There was no grey color in the paint kit. So, Totoro’s grey body ( that is seen in the reference picture provided in the kit) ends up being green?? Luckily, using the paint colors that were given, an appropriate shade of grey was mixed by using different colors. Hence the 4 stars. How can a Totoro painting have a green Totoro?
Bottom line: Hours of fun for anyone. Gorgeous painting. Worth the price. Does take a while to ship- be patient (the shipment arrived ahead of the shipping deadline). Also be prepared to not be able to track your shipment. You just know that your order is shipped and then when your order arrives at your doorstep. Finally be wary of mismatched colors.

Finally got this frame together after a couple tries. I hope I didn’t ruin the stickicity of the glue. Once I got it together and put my canvas on it, it seems pretty tight and firm. I love that I didn’t have to get a staple gun to put some frames together. Now that i know how easy it is to put this together, I will never buy a frame that has to be stapled. I wonder if this product will be strong enough to use on aida cloth for cross stitched items.

Being bored during COVID, I ordered a 16×20 paint by numbers. Following other people’s advice, I ordered a 14×18 stretcher kit. And I agree, if you want to use the adhesive system of this frame / stretcher kit, then a 14×18 kit will allow the canvas to wrap fully around the stretchers and stick to all the adhesive bits. BUT! Before you order a 14×18 kit, make sure you are fine losing two inches each way on your image. It looking at my painting, going from 16×20 to 14×18 meant giving up a lot of territory on the edges and losing some detail that I didn’t want to lose. I contemplated ordering another kit at 16×20 and using staples. Then I realized it was a paint-by-numbers, not a masterpiece, and what the heck, use what I had in hand.
The way this kit works is very nifty. Follow the instructions. Mark the canvas with pencil marks so you know the stretcher bars are parallel to the edges of the canvas. You don’t want to get things stuck down and find out your image is crooked. The sticky stuff is Really Sticky. Following the instructions, everything came together in under five minutes. The end result is a ready to hang paint by numbers. I am very happy with this. I’m not sure what a professional artist would think of this kit, but for a bored COVID artist like me, it worked fantastically. If I do another paint-by-numbers, I will definitely order this stretcher kit again.

Love in the Paris air !,This paintIng was so fun, a few colors seemed a bit off, so I improvised. I would recommend using gesso on to use an old credit card to smooth the gesso. I also very lightly we thank large areas with water just before painting. This helps the paint glide on.

Very nice easy frame kit for canvas. We only had 2 problems. We measured the actual picture area before we bought the frame and thought we had plenty of extra canvas around it, but the frame was wider than we anticipated and we could only use adhesive on the wide ends. Also our staples weren’t separating. We finally used floss in between them and that did the trick. Love the framed canvas, it looks great and was very easy to use.

Compare to my original picture, the color is a bit off. Some details ( the texture of the blanket) aren’t showing in the painting…. But I guess that’s how the paint by number works.. I am very pleaseD with the overall result…..

It’s amazing! I never really got into the whole adult coloring phase, it just stresses me out and my pictures never turned out amazing like other people’s lol but this is very simple and it comes out very pretty! It’s easy to do because you don’t have to worry about picking colors you just paint. I got one for me and my sister and we spend a few hours on it almost everyday! It slowly but surely comes together! I really recommend this product. ALSO I noticed a few people complaining about the fact that it’s folded, however it was gently folded and it’s still easy to paint. The paint dries fast so I tend to just fold it up and stick it in my purse with one of the paint strips and the brushes it’s nice. When you’re done you can frame it and it’s fine, also if you’d like you can flip it over before you paint and iron the back of it to get the creases out.
